Perama – the “drinking area” of Gera – is located in the bay of Gera and administratively falls under the municipal unit of Gera of the Municipality of Mytilene, while it is located 30 km from Mytilene.

It acquired unique industrial buildings such as soap factories, olive mills and talc machines, while as a port, it served the entire region.

The main building complex of the area is the tannery and next to it the picturesque windmill built before 1830, which in the old days served the needs of the tannery in grinding acorns, while today it has ceased to operate.

It is stone and cylindrical, like all the mills of the Aegean, with a slight slope inwards in height.

The entrance is located on the southwest side in the space formed between the road to Perama and the sea.

Inside, the mill is divided into three areas, ground floor, middle and upper floor where the mill mechanism is located. Today it is an important monument and attraction for the area. The mill has been classified as a historical monument since 1997.

Perama offers many options for entertainment, with picturesque taverns serving traditional Mytilene cuisine and beautiful cafes to enjoy your coffee and dessert.

From here, a road begins towards the mouth of the bay. There are the very beautiful fishing villages, Marmaro, Pyrgoi, Avlonas and Ftelia, with picturesque taverns serving delicious seafood and other delicacies.

You can also enjoy swimming in the nearby areas of Evreiaki, Gyaria, Tarti, Ambaria of the Gera Bay, fishing in the entire area outside the mouth of the bay and surfing in the Gera Bay.

The Karyonas area is ideal for hiking with views of the Gera Bay. And the rural road that leads to “Soroko” is a beautiful forest area with amazing views.
